Judith A. “Judy” Spencer, who currently serves as the chief human resources officer at Mississippi State University, has been named the  Women in Higher Education—Mississippi Network  2017 Leadership Award winner. Ms. Spencer, who was nominated by President Mark E. Keenum, was surprised of her selection as the organizations 12th award recipient.

In his nomination letter, Dr. Keenum lauded Judy as “a leader in the university’s efforts to attract more women to our faculty and staff, and she is also deeply encouraged in developing and implementing innovative programs designed to promote career success for all women on our campus.”

The WHEMN Leadership Award was established to recognize women who have demonstrated their leadership and commitment to the advancement of women in higher education. She should have demonstrated leadership skills and established practices of enhancing campus climate by finding ways and means to inspire her colleagues and institutions to higher levels of achievement.
